    Background: Greece appears to have a new ally in her dispute with Britain over the Cyprus question.

    On Monday, August 5, the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Mahgoub, met Archbishop Makarios and pledged the support of his Government when the question is discussed in the United Nations General Assembly.

    The meeting took place during Mr. Mahgoub's official visit to Greece and was held in a Villa owned by Mr. Vlahoulis, Greek resident in the Sudan.

    The Sudanese Foreign Minister was accompanied to the meeting by the Sudanese Ambassador to Athens, Mr. Baghir.

    They were joined in their discussions with the Archbishop by Mr. Loizidis, Parliamentary deputy and representative of the Cyprus pro-Greek Ethnarchy movement.
