Background: Tennis--and Martina Navratilova, the world's number one women's player, beat the young American, Andrea Jaeger, in straight sets in the Canadian Open final in Montreal on August 22. Wimbledon champion Navratilova, playing in the red skirt, took an early command of the 34 thousand dollar event when she won the first set 6-3. But she was forced to recover from a 3-5 deficit in the second set. She took the next four games, breaking Miss Jaeger's serve twice to emerge a straight sets winner, 6-3, 7-5. Winning this Canadian title, Miss Navratilova repeated her victory over Miss Jaeger in this year's final of the French Open.
