Background: Each year in the depth of winter the Dutch Royal General Association for Flowerbulbs Culture (the "Koninklijka Algemene Vereniging voer Bloembolien Cultuur") holds an exhibition of flowers grown under glass.

The purpose of this exhibition, called "Winterflora", is to encourage flower growers to strive for ever greater skill in the technically very difficult art of bringing hot house flowers to perfection at a given time -- the date of the show, which this year was Friday, 16 January, in Haarlem.
