Background: As always on the day of the greatest holiday of Soviet people, the Red Square is solemn and majestic. Leaders of the CPSU and the Soviet Government are on the tribune of the Mausoleum. Marshal of the Soviet Union Grechko, member of he Politbureau of the CC of the CPSU and Minster of Defence of the USSR, congratulated the working people of our county,f the foreign guests, the Soviet Armed Forces with eh 56th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. By tradition, the parade was opened by cadets of Military Academies. As L.I.Brezhnev said at the reception in Kremlin, today n strict order of a military parade marched the men of the Soviet Army and Fleet who are armed with the best ideals of our time and the most modern military technique. Continuing the military traditions of the revolutionary proletariat, being true to the principles of proletarian internationalism, the Soviet forces sacredly hold in mind the behests of the founder of he first Socialist state in the world V.I.Lenin about the necessity and ability to defend the cause of the revolution, the cause of the working class. The parade at eh Red Square showed that the Soviet Armed Forces reliably stand on defence of the peaceful creative work of our people, they are vigilant and keep up a constant high fighting trim. A demonstration of eh working people follows the military parade past the Kremlin walls. Eh Muscovites together with all Soviet people once more stated their readiness to do everything for the successful fulfilment of the resolutions of the XXIVth Congress of CPSU, to complete the tasks of the third decisive year of the five year plan ahead of schedule. The Soviet people are proud that the achievements of the Leninist policy of peace, the great changes for the better in the discharge of the international intensity are closely connected with the wide and purposeful activity of the CC of the CPSU, the Politbureau, and the General Secretary of the Central Committee L.I.Brezhnev.
