Background: The German Navy's new training ship, the 3-masted barque Gorch Fock, arrived in Aberdeen, Scotland, November 3. During her stormy voyage from Kiel, the crew and cadets - numbering altogether over 200 - have been smartening up this graceful new sailing ship in preparation for her visit to the Scottish port.
The Gorch Fock replaces the training ship Pamir which sank with the loss of 80 lives in an Atlantic hurricane in 1957.
