Background: Receiving the credentials of new Guinea ambassador Mr. Sadan Moussa Toure in Fort Lamy on the 23rd August, President Francois Tombalbaye re-affirmed Chad's solidarity with Guinea in resisting threats to its security from outside.
Guinea complained in September last of an invasion from Portuguese Guinea, and has just secured a visit to Conakry from a special U.N. Mission, which is to investigate threats to invade by Portuguese forces from Portuguese Guinea.
Meanwhile, President Tombalbaye has reportedly had to face trouble at home. On Chad radio on Friday he confirmed there had been a coup attempt against him, and said the leader of the coup had committed suicide.
Chad has broken off diplomatic relations with the UAR, accusing it of being involved in the abortive coup.
