Background: Manila city authorities have embarked on a massive clean-up campaign. They want to turn it from one of the dirtiest cities in Asia into one of the cleanest.
The mayor of the Filipino city, Antonio J. Villegas, is directing the campaign personally.
He has enlisted the support of some of the well-known names from the Philippines' growing sex movie trade. Handsome actors and seductive actresses have taken time off from their bed scenes to do their bit towards cleaning up the city.
At the weekend they were out sweeping the streets and clearing ??? of refuse under the watchful eye of the mayor - not to mention many onlookers who seemed more interested in the stars rather than the campaign.
Soon the sex stars themselves might find themselves the subject of a clean-up. The Marcos government has ordered a crackdown on the
flourishing sex movie business and wants Philippines show business to be as clean as the Manila Mayor hopes his city will be.
