    Background: PARIS, FRANCE

When the fashion house Nina Ricci unveiled its spring collection in Paris on January 17 it soon became obvious that designers had been inspired by the elegance of the past. Hem-lines were well below the knee and many of the creations showed the sleek lines of the 1920s. The first dress was a romantic number in crepe de chine with a printed pastel tint. Next, a cardigan jacket with a gaberdine skirt in shell pink, set off by a satin blouse and black straw sunbonnet. Delicate colours seemed to be favoured, but a poppy red evening dress added a splash of colour. Classic black was back in this dramatic evening dress which its frilly white silk collar to end the Nina Ricci preview on a sophisticated note.
