    SOUND EFFECTS.

SCU Roger Bannister speaks:- "Oh, Jim Peters is in excellent fettle./I have just been with him now & he has returned home to his wife and two children & there was a tremendous reception waiting for him."

SCU Bannister speaks:- "We actually passed the 1500 metre mark in a new world record time of 3-14.9. and I just managed to get back to his shoulder at the corner & I thought that he/wouldn't except it just before we came into the straight and so that was when I flung myself at him. He happened I think at that moment to glance behind him to see whether he had in fact dropped me, not knowing really if I would have sufficient strength to keep up the speed or/indeed reach the tape, but luckily I managed to./ I have responsibilities now which make it difficult for me to train and to travel."

CU..."And so if I can not combine the two successfully then I shall have to give up running and I shan't have too many regrets."
