TRANSCRIPT: ALI (SEQ. 6): "No man can out-box Jimmy Ellis but me. He is not that strong, or I would say hard-hitting, devastating or relentless but James Ellis is the best boxer in the world. Beat Leotis Martin a good boxer, beat Patterson, beat Jerry Quary, a good boxer, and was beating the devil out of Joe Frazier. (indistinct) See, I can see a man's eyes. I can see the man was in trouble. The man was in critical trouble if I kept on (reporters indistinct). The last round. (noise of reporters) He was in critical trouble, critical and with my 230 pounds hitting him hard, it hurt him too bad. And I knew I'd won I'd knew that they would stop it and he couldn't come out from under. If I'd just done that (taps) he would have stayed gone that would have kept him gone, just that."



REPORTER: "Did you feel pretty good when you opened the cut on his nose? Did you figure that you would get to him after that?"



ELLIS (SEQ. 7): "I wasn't worried about the blood on his nose. He was bleeding a couple of times. But that wasn't going to win the fight, I had to get in there and really whoop him in order to win. But a lot of shots I missed. I couldn't hit him if I wanted to."

Background: Muhammad Ali the former heavyweight champion proved once again that he is a winner. In his first fight since his loss to Joe Frazier last March, Ali danced and jabbed his way to a last round technical knockout over Jimmy Ellis. Ellis, Ali's former sparring partner, was helpless against the blows of the ex-champ. More than 32,000 people attended the fight on July 26 in Houston's Astrodome. The two boxers talked of their experience in the ring after the bout.
