The Spanish Prime Minister, Senor Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo, has been making a three-day visit to Italy. He had talks in Rome on Thursday (18 March) with President Sandro Pertini, their discussions concentrating on Spain's application to joint the European Economic Community (EEC) and the NATO alliance. Officials said other major topics were the forthcoming European Security Conference in Madrid, plus a survey of defence and economic aspects throughout the Mediterranean. Senor Sotelo's party included the Spanish Foreign Minister, Senor Jose Pedro Perez-Llorca, who had talks with Signor Pertini, and the Italian Foreign Minister, Signor Emilio Colombo.
