Background: America's globe trotting Secretary of State, Doctor Henry Kissinger visited three nations on Tuesday (February 18). Following his middle east tour seeking a settlement, he flew to Britain for talks with Prime Minister Harold Wilson. He had breakfast with Opposition leader Margaret Thatcher in London, lunch with the Shah of Iran in Zurich and dinner in Paris before talks with President Giscard d'Estaing.
The Shah and Dr. Kissinger met for talks on oil, energy, the Middle East and other world problems. The Shah too has been busy receiving. He holidays at this time of the year at his luxurious chalet near St. Moritz. Since his arrival early in the month he has entertained President Senghor of Senegal, King Hussein of Jordan and on Monday President Giscard.
Before his meeting with the Shah, Dr. Kissinger told newsmen the Iranian leader was a valued and trusted friend of the United States and he considered it important to speak to him about the middle east, energy and the world situation.
After the working luncheon Dr. Kissinger made no statement but the Shah said the price of oil would not drop and could rise even higher unless inflation was checked in the western world.
