Background: The Lebanese Ambassador to the Ivory Coast, M. Raymonde Heneine, presented on Saturday (21 November) a gift of a quantity of valuable books to the University of Abidjan Library in a ceremony to mark Lebanon's 27th anniversary of independence, Lebanon celebrated her independence anniversary on Sunday (22 November).
Representing the Minister of National Education at the ceremony was Mr. Jules-Hie Nea, the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of National Education. Mr. Jean Garagnon, the University ??? Rector was present, as were the University Secretary, Mlle. Sangare, and its Librarian, Mme. Dosdat. A number of students and members of the Lebanese Embassy staff also attended the ceremony.
The book included valuable works outlining the history of Lebanon and describing the country.
In a short address, the Lebanese Ambassador described the books and discussed his country's history. He added that he hoped the gift would result in a closer relationship between the University of Abidjan and the University of Lebanon, and would strengthen the cultural ties between the two countries.
