Background: Armed troops were out in force in Bangkok as student demonstrations against former Thai military leader, Field Marshal Charusathiara, continued. At Thamasat University thousands of students again turned out to demand Field Marshal Prapass be expelled from Thailand. The demonstration follows a bloody pitched battle between rival student group on Saturday in which two students were killed and another thirty six injured.
The protest sparked off government measures to find Field Marshal Prapass who was taken into what the government termed, "protective custody." According to Radio Thailand, the Field Marshal was then granted an audience with the Kink of Thailand. The former military commander was then escorted to Bangkok Airport where he bearded a plane for Taiwan.
