one ton of sugar cane produces 100 kilograms of sugar. in the world market Argentina is in the 6th place. first is Brasil. San Pablo factory produces 5000 tons a year to be exported to North of Africa and Arab countries. one million tons are for internal consumption 600.000 tons for export. there are three kinds of cane reaping. manual, semi-mechanical and mechanical. sugar cane harvest beguine in Argentina from june 1st to 10th till september or october. San Pablo factory is the second largest of the Tucuman Province. till now the 16 factories of Tucuman processed 686.800 tons of sugar. The whole province lives of the sugar cane harvest (80%) and 20% of tourism. Being so rich in sugar cane plantations is one of the poorest provinces of Argentina.
