Before a large crowd of spectators, the Soviet Union beat their main competitors in the tournament in a low scoring match -- 68-60.
Tuesday's game was a re-match of the 1972 Munich Olympic finals, in which the Soviet Union managed to beat the United States team in the last remaining seconds of the game -- the first time the United States suffered defeat in Olympic basketball.
In a second match, Cuba defeated Yugoslavia 86-77. Cuba was the bronze medal winner in the Munich Olympics.
Final standing sin the International Basketball Festival, which began on May 14th, were: Soviet Union first, Cuba second, Yugoslavia third, and the United States fourth. Peru, the home team, came fifth.
