Background: Two police guard dogs have been hired to protect a California school from vandals--after 80,000 U.S. dollars (about GBP30,000 sterling) worth of damage helped push up insurance rates in the district 400 per cent in the last two years.
The guard dogs are regarded as a pilot project, despite reservations on the part of pupils and teachers. If the project is successful in lowering the school's insurance rates, more schools in the district could see guard dogs on their campuses.
This film shows the guard dogs being "introduced" to pupils through a strong wire fence--and demonstrating what they could do to an intruder.
