Background: The opening of the Iraqi Parliament took place today at the Houses of Parliament in Baghdad. The Prime Minister, Nuri es-Said waited with his ministers for the arrival of King Feisal.
The constitution of the Iraqi parliament is based on the British Constitution, but there were few of those embellishments - such as Black Rod - which make the opening of the British Parliament so colourful.
In Iraq there is no Party System, with no 'opposition' party sitting in Parliament. Nuri-es-Said was invited by the King to form a government and did so on March 3rd. This is the government which is now reassembling after the recess.
