Side V Mountbatten in front of mike. SV Mountbatten speaks:-(Nat.sd.) GTV Ex-soldiers applauding. STV Duke of Edinburgh speaks:-(Nat.sd.) CU Ditto:-(Nat.sd.) STV Duke concludes:-(Nat.sd.) CU Ex-Burma man drinking beer. CU Ditto. TV Mountbatten joining in the drinking with Ex-Burma men. CU Ditto. TV Crowd of men drinking. CU Earl & Countess Mountbatten drinking with the men.



    SOUND EFFECTS. SV Earl Mountbatten speaks:- "And I want to point out that he isn't really a guest because he is himself the holder of the Burma Star, which he thoroughly well earned in the destroyers in the Eastern Fleet in SEAC - I now ask the Duke of Edinburgh to speak to you."



    STV Duke of Edinburgh speaks:- "Ladies and Gentlemen, to begin with I want to make it quite clear that I am a very bogus member of the Burma Star Association. I've never been to Burma, I've never even seen the place (laughter) let alone tried to fight there. By all accounts the fighting was quite something."



    CU..."There are many ways in which we can help to ensure a peaceful future, but the most important is to make it quiet clear to any budding international gangsters that they will get the same treatment as the last lot. (applause)
