CV Callaghan being interviewed on a balcony.
TRANSCRIPT (SEQ 1): CALLAGHAN: I think things look better than they did about two months ago.....whatever their views, has got to make a serious attempt to settle it.
REPORTER: what comes next in the next few weeks? What has to happen?
CALLAGHAN: Well, there will be a whole flurry of diplomatic activity but I can't tell you what will come of it.
REPORTER: Do you foresee a constitutional conference announced in London, for e.g.
CALLAGHAN: I think if there were such a conference and that decision has still to be taken, I emphasis that,...it would be the responsibility of the U.K. Government to call it.
REPORTER: How about any sort of contact with Mr. Smith? Who seems to be in total isolation at the moment.
CALLAGHAN; I don't know whether he's in total isolation ....................... that would follow in due course at the appropriate time.
