Background: NEWSMEN IN SOUTH VIETNAM HAVE BEEN SHOWN THE DAMAGE CAUSED AFTER A BOMBING INCIDENT ON THE BORDER WITH NEUTRAL CAMBODIA. BOTH COUNTRIES CHARGE ONE ANOTHER WITH 'AGGRESSION.'
THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY MORNING WHEN SOUTH VIETNAMESE TROOPS IN THE AREA ENGAGED VIETCONG TROOPS. ACCORDING TO THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE FOREIGN OFFICE, CAMBODIAN FIGHTER PLANES AND ARTILLERY THEN OPENED FIRE TO SUPPORT THE VIETCONG, AS THEY ATTEMPTED TO FLEE OVER THE BORDER.

THE INCIDENT WAS THE LATEST IN A LONG LINE OF BORDER CLASHES IN RECENT YEARS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES. THIS ONE BROUGHT DEATH TO TWO SOUTH VIETNAMESE TROOPS, AND TWO CIVILIANS WERE ALSO BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE ARTILLERY BARRAGE.

WHILE SOUTH VIETNAM SAID THE ISSUE WOULD BE BROUGHT BEFORE THE UNITED NATIONS, THE CAMBODIANS HAD ALSO LODGED A "SOLEMN PROTEST" ACCORDING TO THE NEW CHINA NEWS AGENCY.
