TRANSCRIPT: TRANSLATOR: (SEQ. 5): "He used to get shots every two weeks, and then he and his brother couldn't speak for a while. These shots caused what you've just seen, his brother died one year after the Liberation."
EVA MOSES KOR: "He wanted to find out, for instance, in my case the way I understand it, and it is just my understanding, that they have injected germs into me, supposedly, I was supposed to be dead in two weeks, except that I refused to die. Would I have died, they would have killed my sister instantly, and then compared the two organs of the bodies, the one that is well, and the one that is ill, in the laboratory, in the crematorium. I do think that it is not only the failure of many governments, but in a sense, it's the failure of many people, and humanity, that permits such a person as Dr Mangele, to run free, and still continue some of his ideas of experimenting (indistinct) in Paraguay, or wherever he feels that his luck would permit him to play doctor, because that's basically what he is doing. I do feel it is a failure, 30 years after liberation, if only the children who are finally mature, and able to deal with their memories, painful memories, hadn't come forward, I don't think that you would hear so much talk about Dr Mangele. We are sending telegrams, one to President Reagan, and one to Mr Chernenko, inviting them to participate in that memorial by showing concern for humanity. First of all, they were allies in the second world war, and of course the Russians liberated that particular town. But id man's inhumanity is symbolised, and it is symbolised, by that place, Auschwitz, then I think that the great powers should show some concern, and maybe participate in our memorial march."

    Background: JERUSALEM

Jewish twins who survived Nazi concentration camp experiments by the infamous Josef Mangele have launched a new appeal for international efforts to track down the so-called 'Angel of death'. At a news conference in jerusalem on October 12, several dozen twins announced plans to stage a memorial march between Birkenau concentration camp and the main camp at Auschwitz early next year. They are members of an organisation called Candles -- Children of Auschwitz Nazis' Deadly Laboratory Experiments Survivors. One of the organisation's founders, Eva Moses Kor, said Candles had sent telegrams to Presidents Reagan and Cherneko, asking them to take part in a convention, to be held in Israel in February 1985. At the convention -- marking the 40th anniversary od Auschwitz survivors' freedom -- the victims will give public testimony about what they underwent. the camp was liberated in February, 1945 by Soviet troops. A total of 1,500 sets of twins were held in camps during the war. Dr Mangele carried out painful experiments at Auschwitz in a bid to discover the genetic reasons for twin births. Survivors say they want to tell the world about their ordeal, and bring about Dr Mangele's arrest. He is now alleged to be living in Paraguay. they are increasing pressure for international action to track down Mangele and bring him to trial.
