Background: The 5,250-ton British warship H.M.S. Norfolk arrived in Malta on Saturday (August 28) -- the first Royal Navy ship to call there for six weeks. The Norfolk, a missile destroyer, and one of the most modern in the British Navy, is in the Mediterranean for exercises. It was due to be joined by another Royal Navy ship, the air direction frigate H.M.S.Leopard, on Sunday (August 29), and the two ships were due to leave Malta on Monday (August 30). H.M.S. Norfolk is the ship on which the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, is due to spend nine months in naval training.
