    Background: CONNAUGHT CENTRE, HONG KONG

A British army captain abseiled on September 1 from the top of a 52-storey skyscraper in Hong Kong breaking the record for descending from a building using a single rope. The 190 metre (586 feet) descent was made by Captain Martin Fuller of the British Army's Cheshire regiment. The stunt was performed to publicise a climbing and trekking expedition the Cheshire soldiers will be making to the Himalayas in October. The other soldiers performed the same stunt from the 18th floor of the building. Huge crowds watched the event, which took place in the middle of Hong Kong's commercial district.
