Background: The cream of Brazil's canine society, bored with the social round and ???oodle p???lours, are taking time out to indulge themselves at a special doo???ies holiday resort at Jacarepagua near Rio de Janeiro.
The service is everything a well-travelled aristocrat could desire. Meal??? cooked to order, medical care is included and to make bathing a pleasure rather than a chore, there are hostesses to primp and pamper the ???ests in a specially fitted bathroom. A special service is also available to shingle males or those travelling without their mates. They can choose one of the five well-pedigreed females who are on display in the lobby, to while away the evenings.
Sonora Marina Antunes, who runs the Dog Hotel, says the idea came to ???er after friends complained they couldn't take their pets to hotels and pensions, and they couldn't bear to leave them at home. Her success has been such that a reservation service is now available in Brasilia and San Paulo for the 50-odd rooms and suites. At the hotel with meals included, a single room comes to GBP 1.70 (25 cruzeiros) a night and a suite GBP 2.30 (35 cruzeiros).
