Background: A top-level Czechoslovakian party, headed by Communist Party leader Gustav Husak, visited Bulgaria this week. On Wednesday (January 13), the delegation toured Bulgaria's second city, Plovdiv, accompanied by Prime Minister and party leader Todor Jhivkov.

The Czechoslovakian party received a warm reception as it drove through the city in a motorcade. Later, the delegation toured one of the city's most important industries -- a factory producing an internationally reputed line of typewriters.

During the visit, Mr. Jhivkov welcomed the continuing trend towards improved economic relations and technical co-operation between the two countries.

After touring the factory, Dr. Husak's party travelled to the nearby village of Popovitsa, where they visited the collective farm named after the former Czechoslovakian President Clement Gotvald.

During a rally at the farm, Dr. Husak unveiled a statue commemorating the life and work of the late President Gotvald. Later the Czechoslovakian party handed over a tractor as a gift to the farm.
