AMBASSADOR DINIITZ: "The Soviet Union has appealed as the war started to all the loaders of the Arab Countries urging to join in forces with the Egyptians and the SYRIANS for the war of destruction against Israel. And the Soviet Union has continuously resisted once the war started, all attempts made by other sectors, including this government, to launch a ceasefire and agreed to a ceasefire only when the Soviet Union realised that their partners, the Syrians and the Egyptians were on the verge of military collapse.

Mr. Dinitz asked how the USSR could even participate in creating a lasting peace considering, its role during the war.
The Israeli Ambassador told newsmen that Dr. Kissinger did not take any specific Israeli proposals with him when the secretary of State left it became evident that problems had developed in the Geneva discussions on the disengagement of Israeli and Egyptian troops along the Suez Canal. It had been widely reported that Israel had offered to withdraw twenty miles (thirty-two kilometres) into the sinai in return for a reduction of Egyptian troops along the East Bank of the Suez Canal.
