    THE VOTE ON ACCEPTING THE TWO STATES WAS BY ACCLAMATION.THIS NOW BRINGS THE AFRICAN GROUP OF INDEPENDENT STATES IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO 34, AND THE STRENGTH OF THE AFRO-ASIAN BLOC TO 58.

    KENYA'S DELEGATION WAS LED BY ITS MINISTER FOR HOME AFFAIRS, MR OGINGA ODINGA.THREE OTHER MINISTERS ACCOMPANIED HIM.IN ANNOUNCING THE DELEGATION, KENYA'S PRIME MINISTER, MR JOMO KENYATTA, SAID HIS COUNTRY HAD NOT GIVEN UP HOPE OF ACHIEVING AN EARLY FEDERATION WITH UGANDA AND TANGANYIKA.SHOULD THIS BE ACHIEVED, HE HAS EXPLAINED, KENYA WOULD THEN SHARE A SINGLE U.N.SEAT WITH THE OTHER FEDERAL PARTNERS.
