Background: The country's biggest cycling tournament of the year was held in Kishinev. Approximately 90 of the Soviet Union's speediest cyclists contested top honours in the 150 kilometres circuit race. The road had many difficult hills and drops and hairpin turn.
The cyclists have to cover 13 laps. After a keen struggle 1st place was won by Alexei Podyablonski who has twice won the USSR title for the 150 kilometre circuit race.
