Background: The Head of State of the Yemen, Qadhi Abdul-Rahman Iryani, arrived in Beirut on Saturday (Saturday) to begin a four-day official visit to the Lebanon. It was the first visit by a Yemen head of state to Lebanon. He met with a colourful welcome, headed by President Suleiman Franjieh and Prime Minister Saeb Salam. Mr Iryani is expected to hold formal discussions with Lebanese leaders on Monday, dealing with relations between their countries, Arab affairs and the Palestinian question.
SYNOPSIS: President Suleiman Franjieh of the Lebanon inspects the guard of honour on Saturday morning as he waits for the arrival of the Head of State of the Yemen, Qadhi Abdul-Rahman Iryani. It is the first official visit of a Yemen Head of State to the Lebanon.
Mr. Iryani was accompanied by a delegation including several ministers and senior officers. They met with a warm welcome.
As Lebanese airforce planes flew overhead, the Yemen Head of State stepped out to begin his four-day official visit. His first day in Beirut was to begin with a talk with President Franjieh. The two Heads of State were then to visit a race course to watch horse riding contests.
With President Franjieh to welcome Mr Iryani was the Prime Minister Saeb Salam and Speaker Kamel Asaad. The Prime Minister and Speaker were later received by Mr Iryani, along with other deputies and heads of diplomatic missions. After a series of such meetings, Mr Iryani will meet President Franjieh on Monday. They are expected to discuss relations between their two countries, Arab affairs in general and the Palestinian question.
