Background: Villagers at Keningau in the state of Sabah in Malaysia have celebrated the annual planting of the rice corp. Rice is the staple food of the people - and their lives revolve around the times of planting and harvesting.

The Rice Planting Festival at Keningau is one of many traditional gatherings hold on Sabah during the month of July. The Festivals are called "Tamu Besia" and follow similar patterns... a market day with traditional competitions during the day, followed by hours of music and dancing into the night.
