Background: In India, about thirty members of parliament from several political parties demonstrated on Monday (19 February) outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi against China's invasion of Vietnam. They demanded that the Chinese withdraw immediately.

SYNOPSIS: The members of parliament were from former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's Old Congress Party and Indira's Communist Party, which is pro-Moscow. When the marchers arrived at the embassy, police blocked them from trying to break down the doors.

Later, a public meeting was addressed by the Indian Minister for Fertilisers Petroleum and Chemicals, Mr Hemavati Nandan Bahuguna.
