TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 4: Mr Vice-President, do you think you can get it all done in 90 days? -
- You do ? -
"Of course - you can do anything in 90 days if you go out for it."
- How soon do you plan to begin public hearings? -
"Well, I gotta get staff - that's the real problem."
-What about Congress running a similar hearing - a similar investigation as yours - I mean there seems to be a tug-of-war over who's going to investigate the CIA? -
"Well, the Congress is a separate branch of government - with its own powers, its own decisions - I would assume that when the leadership gets back, that they'll sit down and try to work out a plan that will protect the public interest - that will ensure the re-establishment of confidence and that will not destroy in any way the important and essential element of national security. Nothing is specific - I've got one assignment - I'm gonna carry that assignment and do the best job that can be done."
