Background: American tour veteran Gene Littler conquered steady rain and pressure to shoot a one-under-par 70 at the Sobu Country Club near Tokyo on Sunday (12th October) to win the $300,000 Taiheiyo Club Masters gold tournament for the second consecutive year.

Littler's total six-under par 278 at the 7,187 yard, par-71 Sobu Country Club course earned him $65,000 in first prize money -- the biggest prize in golf today.

Japanese champion Masashi Osaki, Alden Miller and Hubert Green of the United States shared second place and got $19,625 each.

The U.S.'s Lee Elder took fifth place, and Bruce Crampton of Australia, Jerry McGee of the U.S. and Lu Lian-huan of Taiwan shared sixth.
