Background: The Foreign Minister of Senegal, M. Assane Seck, arrived in Lusaka yesterday (13 October) on a brief visit, during which he conveyed a message of friendship from Senegalese President Leopold Senghor to the people of Zambia.
M. Assane Seck, who was accompanied by officials of the Senegalese Foreign Ministry, was met at the airport in Lusaka by the Zambian Minister of Rural Development, Mr. Paul Lusaka.
The visit to Zambia followed a number of other brief calls M. Assane Seck has recently made on other African capitals. In the past two days, he has also been to Brazzaville and Kinshasa.
SYNOPSIS: At the airport, the Senegalese visitors and their Zambian hosts began talks on matters of mutual interest to their two nations, before leaving to drive into Lusaka for further discussions.
