Background: Syria's air force today dealt a heavy blow to israeli positions and syrian air defence brought down two israeli planes, a military spokesman said in Damascus tonight (24/4)
Summing up the day's operations on the syrian front he said tank and artillery fighting on Mount Hermon and along the Golan heights raged throughout the day.

Fighting on the Golan front stopped at 20.20 local tonight but was continuing on mount hermon, the spokesman added.

He said syrian tanks and artillery directed concentrated fire at israeli positions on several sectors of mount hermon and the golan heights.

The spokesman added that syrian forces destroyed several tans ad armoured vehicles, a anti tan missile base and three missile vehicles and killed or wounded several israel soldiers.
