    Background: THE SECOND SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD MET IN VIENNA, AUSTRIA, YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY). DELEGATES TO THE SESSION WERE WELCOMED TO VIENNA BY AUSTRIA'S FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER, DR. KURT WALOHEIM. THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD IS THE MAIN POLICY-MAKING ORGAN OF THE UNITED NATIONS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION.

    THE BOARD'S OPENING SESSION WAS CONDUCTED IN THE HOFBURG CONGRESS CENTRE IN VIENNA. SUBJECTS LISTED FOR DISCUSSION INCLUDED UNIDO'S ACTIVITIES IN 1967 AND FUTURE WORK PROGRAMMES. THE DELEGATES WILL ALSO DISCUSS CO-ORDINATION OF THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES OF THE UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM OF ORGANISATIONS.

    AMONG COUNTRIES ATTENDING THIS YEAR'S SESSION WERE THE IVORY COAST, GHANA, NIGERIA, NIGER AND GUINEA.

    THERE ARE 45 COUNTRIES ON THE UNIDO BOARD, AND OF THESE 15 HAVE BEEN ELECTED TO HANDLE SPECIALISED PROBLEMS. NIGERIA IS ONE OF THE 15 ELECTED COUNTRIES.

    THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BOARD, IBRAHIM HELMI ABDEL-RAHMAN, ELECTED FOR A FOUR-YEAR TERM IN 1967, WELCOMED DELEGATES AT THE CONGRESS HALL.
