Background: 2000 Muscovities gathered in the Grand Kremlin Palace on May 15 for a gala Soviet-Indian friendship rally.
Among the public leaders who attended were Prime Minister Shastri, Foreign Minister Singh, the Indian Ambassador to Moscow, Dr. Cowl, and Soviet leaders, Messrs. Brejnev, Kirilenko, Kosygin, Mazurov, Mikoyan, Podygorny, Polyanski, Suslev, Shvernik and Ponomarev.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Promyslov, Mayor of Moscow.
The speakers expressed the sympathy and profound respect of the Soviet people for freedom-loving India. Among them were Freezer Factory foreman Kucherin, Prof. Maximov and boarding school teacher Mrs. Kulemanova.
The Indian and Soviet Prime Ministers addressed the rally.
