    The ship is the steamer Munleon. She went ashore in a heavy fog about one mile east of Point Reyes, California, on November 7, 1930, while bound from San Francisco for Astoria, Oregon with a cargo of bagged sugar, salt and general merchandise. She was abandoned and withing six weeks had pounded to pieces in the heavy surf.

    Forgot to add...the Munleon's captain was named Hengst, not Hanks.
