The art gallery is the Robert Fraser Gallery, on Duke Street, a significant location in the modern, 'swinging' London of the mid-60s, a place where various strands of pop art intersected with pop music. Two of Fraser's artists, Peter Blake and Richard Hamilton, made album covers for The Beatles, and Fraser was arrested on drug charges, along with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Marianne Faithful, during a raid on Richard's country estate. This film is dated just a few months before the gallery was raided by the police, and Fraser and the artist Jim Dine were charged with obscenity for some artworks that showed stockinged legs. They were found guilty of 'indecency' and fined 20 guineas, which now sounds very quaint.
