So first of all Hungary and Poland are not on the Balkans, but interesting British view from 1940. (Balkans is South of the Lower Danube and Sava rivers). The village in the picture is called Técs? in Hungarian and Tiachiv in Ukrainian, where it today belongs to. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiachiv) The territory was occupied (or regained) by Hungary partly by the First Vienna Award in 1938 and partly by occupation in March 1939 from Czechoslovakia. The latter created a common Hungary-Poland border, which was later important enabling to flee from Germans for lot of Polish soldiers and civilians. Eastern Poland was occupied by the Soviet Union around 18th September 1939. We can see a Hungarian-Polish border station on the picture, but not clear if after the occupation (as it is narrated by Pathe), as Polish state symbols are still in place. Today both the former Polish and Hungarian territory belongs to Ukraine. The Upper-Tisza (Tisa) river being the Ukraine-Romania border here.
