Comedians Bennett and Williams entertain with crosstalk and music.
Bennett and Williams. Part of the DIPS INTO COMEDY issue.
Probably filmed at the Pathe Studio, London.
Several shots of this comedy double act in the studio. The straight man (think this is Bennett) sits playing an unusual instrument (like a violin but with no acoustic body, just a brass horn attached) when the comic side of the act (think this is Williams) walks on, carrying a bucket and spade.
They engage in some humorous talk, with the straight man getting annoyed with the comic - he is quite silly. He talks of his sister going out with a fireman the previous night who left a ladder in her stocking. Mother-in-law jokes. The comic tells stories about musicians in the (unseen) band. Then they both play 'First Call of Spring' on their odd-looking instruments. After a short while the comic swaps his for his bucket and spade, fits them together and continues playing the tune - the straight man looks pained.
