    Elevated shot of the speakers platform at the conference. United Kingdom delegate Ernest Bevin is called to the podium and he makes a speech about the cost of the United Nations, the new atomic weapons. He talks of the work of scientists being encouraged for the benefit of mankind while devising such control to make impossible the use (of the weapons) for destruction.

    He then speaks of entering negotiations to place Tanganikya, the Cameroons and Togoland under trusteeship system. Regarding Transjordan, Bevin says Britain is intending to take steps to establish the territory as a sovereign independent state.

    He gives assurance that Britain gives whole hearted support to the United Nations. He talks of the wars Britain has fought in over the last 30 years, to defeat those who destroy liberty and harness the soul of man to a pernicious system.

    He ends by saying "We now dedicate all our capacity, courage and achievement to building up a world order and peace". He walks off to loud applause.
