The runners start for the 5,000 metres and camera pans with them. Sandor Iharos from Hungary goes straight into the lead followed by Chris Chataway. SV. Pan as Iharos leaves Chataway by about two yards, Derek Ibbotson is third at about the same distance. LV. Pan of the three runners in the same order - Chataway turns as if to speak to Ibbotson. CU. Pan, Iharos in the lead. CU. Pan of Iharos' legs. LV. Towards and pan - Chataway takes up the running from Iharos. SV. Pan as Chataway leaves Iharos - Ibbotson third. SCU. People in crowd. SV. Last lap is on, with Chataway slightly ahead of Iharos. Ibbotson comes past the pair of them on the outside to pan with them as Chataway goes after Ibbotson. CU. Excited people in crowd. SV. Pan, last bend with Ibbotson being pursued by Chataway, Iharos is out of picture. Chataway draws level and starts to pass Ibbotson. SV. Towards, Chataway winning about two yards in front of Ibbotson. Pan with Chataway, Ibbotson comes into picture and spreads his arms to greet Chataway. GV. Massed crowd applauding. CU. Chris Chataway after race, looking fair puffed!
