M/S of British soldier digging in a field with some Italian farm workers. C/U of Ernie Cole from the Midlands, he is a driver of the RASC. He says hello to his mum and Joan. He says he is a bit nervous and only has 20 seconds to speak but he hopes they are all all right.
M/S of Gunner Waite from Wales, he is making a cup of tea over a campfire. He says hello to Phyliss, Mum, Dad and Pam. He tells them to "expect news of private operations". He finishes his message with "Be good Pam - look after Mammy".
