    General view of Scarborough. Conservatives arrive at the Conference Halls. Among them are Sir David Maxwell Fyfe, Captain Cruikshank, Sir Walter Monkton, Mr Thorneycroft, Mr Lyttleton and Lord Swinton. Crowds stand in the rain to watch them.

    Several shots of Prime Minister Winston Churchill arriving and going into the halls. Shots of the Tory slogan 'Winning Through' with insignia showing a lion carrying a flag.

    Delegates applaud as Churchill makes speech. Natural sound as Churchill speaks of people saying if a Conservative government was elected there would be war - "Churchill the war-monger would plunge us into war". He says "on the contrary, there is a general feeling in the world that, on the whole, the danger of war has receded since we became responsible". He holds up a little lion trophy, urging them to march forward like sturdy lions, jaunty lions, unconquerable lions. Loud applause and standing ovation from the gathering.

    The conference was held 9-11 October 1952.

    "Conference at Scarborough, North Yorkshire." - the location was Scarborough Spa.

    "Captain Cruikshank" in text and tags should read Harry Crookshank.

    "Sir Walter Monkton" in text and tags should read Walter Monckton.

    "Mr Thorneycroft" is Peter Thorneycroft.

    "Mr Lyttleton" in text and tags should read Oliver Lyttelton.
