Sculptor-painter Bainbridge Copnall works with broken glass on his mural devoted to Sir Winston Churchill.
Sculptor - painter Bainbridge Copnall is seen walking across his garden with some sheets of coloured glass under his arm; outside a greenhouse he takes a mallet and smashes the glass into small pieces.
Various shots of Bainbridge and his assistants at work on sections of a huge mural made mosaic-style from bits of coloured glass; the mural shows Sir Winston Churchill in his Garter robes surrounded by wartime battles.
When finished, the mural was to form part of a redevelopment scheme at Dudley in Worcestershire. Bainbridge works on two Churchill faces for the mural. Other parts of the mural show Big Ben; St Paul's Cathedral in flames during the Blitz. The final shots shows Bainbridge holding a finished head of Churchill against some glass so the light shines through.
Note: there is a newspaper cutting and cameraman's notes on file about Bainbridge.
