World War One. Honours; decoration. French Colonel Maumot gives his own son the Legion of Honour medal for bravery; in 1916. Shot of a row of French soldiers standing in a courtyard. Maumot (followed by another officer) enters; strides up to tall young man in the line; he touches sword to the shoulders of the soldier; then embraces him; kissing him on both cheeks in a fit of fatherly pride. He then pins the medal on him and they go through the French cheek-kissing custom again; then Maumot exits.
