Note: Researcher indicates that the car accident mentioned occurred on 23/05/1939, when Queen Mary's car collided with a lorry loaded with steel at the junction of West Hill Road and Wimbledon Park Road, Wandsworth, London. The car ended up on its side, and Queen Mary was helped out of the car by a painter, Percy Hallis, who used a ladder to assist her climbing out of the car. Also in the car at the time of the accident were Lord Claud Hamilton, and Lady Constance Milnes-Gaskell. The chauffeur was Mr. O. Humphrey.
