  • Short Summary

Remarkable sequences showing sun almost at its total eclipse.

  • Description

Item title reads: " Did you see the eclipse? Pathe Gazette presents remarkable and exclusive pictures, thanks to invaluable assistance of Sir Frank Dyson, Astronomer-Royal.

    Giggleswick, Yorkshire

C/U of Frank Dyson. M/S of sun in the sky with the start of the total eclipse. A cloud passes over. The shape is like a finger pointing at the sun. The moon passes in front of the sun until just a slither of light remains. M/S of a metal aircraft wing flying over a darkened landscape as the total eclipse occurs.

"Scientists and our cameraman prepared for months, with specially designed apparatus-to record that unique 23 seconds. The Corona-only seen at totality and then, but a few precious seconds Pathe cameraman-flying a mile high-photographs the effect of the Eclipse as its shadow deepens."

Note: This note above appears in the file - but is not seen as an intertitle. The eclipse is not quite seen as total.
